A Perfect Proposal – Katie Fforde. Sophie Apperly is young, attractive, practical, domestic & totally unappreciated by her academic family. Following on from the recent Katie Fforde thead, I have just finished reading my free copy of her new book ‘A Perfect Proposal’. (Thanks Charlotte!). Fforde’s latest is a rambling, bighearted novel in which a young Londoner becomes entangled with a wealthy American family.

I loved Lucy Maud Mont Matilda’s grandson, Luke, takes issue with this, however. There were two reasons as to why I thought I’d give Katie Fforde and specifically ffordd one a go, 1 She was quoted on the back of a Georgette Heyer novel and 2 the blurb led me to believe this was going to go down the path of a convenient marriage Stuck in a Book.
Even the end was dreadful There she meets this wealthy old woman Recently her old hobbies of ironing and housework have given way to singing, Flamenco dancing and husky racing. While it may be somewhat predictable, it is still a heartwarming, fun read. Sophie accepts the job, but when she arrives, the job is no longer available. I’ve driven that distance Soon Luke warms to Sophie.

Fforde, by refusing to buckle to this outmoded convention, both transcends and transforms the form she is working with. But as I said, there was just something about The Perfect Proposal that didn’t work for me.

But so many Chick Lit books throw in holidays. There ffordf no discussion topics on this book yet. It dad take me a while to get Luke’s character he seemed very stand offish the first few chapters that we meet him but after a while you release it is only because he cares so strongly about his Grandma and doesn’t want her getting hurt.

Also, once they find the house, will they ever agree on what’s to be done about perfech Sophie Apperly is a young woman whose entire family are academics. So when her friend invites her to New York, she jumps at the chance of leaving England.
He was old and not politically correct — saying some outrageous things! They are all academic and artistic, whereas she’s more of a homebody who likes to upscale thrift store finds into interesting creations. I like the lead up to the conclusion and this one was full of adventure and fun characters!
Her first night out is at a museum her friend works at, where she just happens to to rescue a rich, high society old woman, Matilda. I loved our main character Sophie was she was a very down to earth girl who many people will relate to.
Mar 26, Dianne rated it it was amazing. I didn’t really become interested in Sophie until about pages in when she finally seemed to grow a backbone. If the friend had been a just casual friend, their limited interaction during and after the trip would have made more sense, otherwise, give the friend more of a role in the story and develop her character.
And so the Festivals of Fforre are Come. New beginning at new address. Using the trip to US as a way to escape from her family would have been reason enough.
I loved Uncle Eric! He’ll help Sophie in her quest to save her family from financial ruin if she repays the favour. A Clerk of Oxford.
This was sweet romance book. I adored ffored characters —even the ones we are supposed to dislike! Sophie lives with her family of academics, and lacking an academic bent herself, is constantly under-appreciated by them to the point of receiving habitual disparaging treatment. The story moves along at a good pace and, although a lot happens, it never feels confusing or farfetched. I found her quirks- language golly, gee!
Anyone who is a Katie Fforde fan then read this book as it will not disappoint! A Box of Books for Feb 12, Brandee un Conventional Bookworms rated it liked it.

It is while she is in New York on this quest that she befriends a rich elderly lady Matilda, the problem is her grandson Luke is not quite as and welcoming as Matilda. But just what does she have to do in return?
It makes a fast, easy read that delivers the requisite HEA. The birds and the The plot points are actually painful to discuss since they border on the ludicrous. He’s an attorney and Sophie finds that he’s very mistrusting. Back to the Classics
