This time around, I finished it rather quickly, but I remember the movie being much more emotionally tense but the soft quiet kind, the kind that is thick and heavy and just sits in the air; engulfing everyone in it.

I appreciate the novella for the tangential thoughts that it inspired in me; I got caught up in my own musings that have nothing to do with the plot, about how circumstantial our must cherished relationships are, but how truly foundational they are to our lives. The plot centers around two lifelong friends who, in their middle age, start affairs with each Over all it was okay, but I would recommend the movie over the book. Some authors will explain every little detail, but here she just explains an event and you’re supposed to fill in lesisng gaps.
