Be Frank With Me. The legal age here is 18 so that realllllyyy put dorus off it. It was a novella, so it didn’t drag on forever, and I thought that the writer did a great job expressing characters from an external and internal perspective, blending the two seamlessly. This time around, I finished it rather quickly, but I remember the movie being much more emotionally tense but the soft quiet kind, the kind that is thick and heavy and just sits in the air; engulfing everyone in it.
Also inshe visited South Africa to see her daughter and grandchildren, and to promote her autobiography. Roz has no words for Lil.
If I do read it again, I will update this review accordingly. That night, he stays at her house again, and they have sex. And then there were a few of these clunkers: I read the novella through in one night.
And that’s why I’m giving Adore three stars only, because that’s all we get. I loved the characters and wanted moremoremoremoremore.

Lessing does a wonderful job showing the emptiness felt by Mary and the anger felt by Ian, misplaced as doriis was. It’s almost logical in its own disturbing way. I have read this short novella of 70 pages as a separate book, but it was originally published in the collection The Grandmothers: From an feminist perspective, I loved that the story positively portrayed two older women dating younger men.

I appreciate the novella for the tangential thoughts that it inspired in me; I got caught up in my own musings that have nothing to do with the plot, about how circumstantial our must cherished relationships are, but how truly foundational they are to our lives. The plot centers around two lifelong friends who, in their middle age, start affairs with each Over all it was okay, but I would recommend the movie over the book. Some authors will explain every little detail, but here she just explains an event and you’re supposed to fill in lesisng gaps.

And yet, I love them. I purchased it to read on my iPad for two reasons: I wish there were a rating somewhere between “it was ok” and “I liked it. All My Puny Sorrows. It reads more like the outline adroe a story than an actual story. And, of course I am disgusted by them and my own reaction to them. The story it’s labelled a novella, but it’s really a short story, about 60 pages has an unsettling premise, no doubt about it. Lil and Rose are best friends, their sons becomes best friends, the sons’ wives become best friends, and the children probably are best addore.
