Alas, this book isn’t about the Pilgrimage of the Camino de Santiago as much as this man’s perceived mysticism. There was no ‘conclusions’ in this book that others who have walked the Camino de Santiago and written about it have not reached- and they did it without the benefit of a guide, meditation activities or a supposed Ancient Order that may or may not exist. I have to just admit that I wasn’t enjoying it, and it was a chore to read. Thanks for telling us about the problem.
Am on my phone, so unable to properly format spoilers, so read no further if you wish to avoid spoilers. The entire idea of some mystical and religious pilgrimage for a sword and repeated mentions of magical rituals and the practice of spiritual exercises was really off putting.
It was just about his struggle with his guide. It’s like Casteneda without characters; Chaucer without subtlety or humour; Don Paulk without imagination. He also held surprise book signings – announced one day in advance – in some cities along the way, to have a chance to meet his readers.

I won’t read it again but that shouldn’t stop you if you really want to give it a go. Honestly, I got more out of The Celestine Prophecy: Dovofthegalilee This is a weak story to be kind.

He simply tells readers what they want to hear, and surrounds it with mysticism coleho ancient psuedo-wisdom. He must do this to gain insight into the simplicity of life. Despite what I have said above about it’s ease of reading, overall, I didn’t enjoy the read.
